Welcome to the Stony Ridge Acres website. Stony Ridge is a small farmette located in the Shenandoah Valley in northeastern Virginia, just outside of Winchester. Mini Nubians are a wonderful, mid-sized, friendly breed who produce plenty of rich, creamy milk. I dam raise the kids born here at Stony Ridge. I spend a lot of time with the kids from the moment they are born, until they leave for their new homes to ensure that the kids born here are very tame and make wonderful pets. I have tested all of my breeding goats for the G6S mutation and they are all normal. For an explanation of the G6S mutation in Nubian and Nubian cross goats visit the links page and scroll down to the category G6S explanation. I have also tested in March of 2013 for CAE and Johne's and the herd was negative for these as well. All of the 2014 kids have been sold.
After much consideration, I have decided to downsize my breeding program substantially. Work and other life commitments have made this necessary. I have sold most of my Mini Nubian herd, but have kept a couple of does for future breeding. I decided to not breed any of my does for 2015 kids. I am planning a lifelong dream trip to Namibia, Africa this spring to volunteer at The Cheetah Conservation Fund. I don't want to have the worry of kids or pregnant does while I'm gone, so there will not be any kids in 2015, but I do plan to breed three of my does in 2016. I will no longer be keeping a waiting list. If I have any kids for sale, they will be listed here on my website. I will post the expected kidding date once it has been determined.
